1. Peach Boy ( ももたろう )

Long long time ago, an old man and a woman lived in a village. One day the old man went to mountain to gather firewood, while the old woman went to the river to do the washing. When the woman was doing the washing, a very big peach came floating up and down in the river. "Oh, the peach looks tasty. I'll take this peach to Grandpa."	The old woman picked up the peach and went back home with the peach in a tub. When it was getting dark, the old man came home from the mountain with lots of firewood on his back. "Grandma, today I worked so hard that I'm very hungry." Then the old woman took the peach out of the tub.	But when she was just about to cut the peach with a knife, it split half. "waaaaah, Waaaaah." To their surprise, a very bouncing boy came out of the peach. Both of them were very astounded. "This boy was born in the peach. So I'll call this boy "Peach Boy'." They said so and decided to bring up the boy. Both of them had cherished the peach boy lovingly.
The peach boy had no likes and dislikes about food and ate all food. The more he ate, the more he grew up. As he grew up, he became bigger and stronger. A word was enough to the wise boy, because he also became very smart. So that made the old man and woman very surprised.	Now, monsters on Onigashima came to the villages, did much harm and went back to their island. This or that village was robbed of some food, some money and some treasures. A rumor of bad monsters was going about around the villages. The peach boy heard about that and told the old man and woman that he'd go to Onigashima to defeat monsters. "I became strong, thanks to Grandpa and Grandma. Please make the best Kibi Dango in Japan, that's my favorite one that will give me power." The old man and woman said, "You are still a child, You can't beat monsters." But the peach boy persuaded them, "It's Ok, I'll never lose."	The old man and woman said, "If you must, you must." They gave Kibi Dango in a bag to him and put it on his waist. The peach boy put on new clothes, a pair of shoes  and a headband. He left the village vigorously with the flag "the strongest peach boy in Japan" in his hand. The old man woman saw the peach boy off, waving their hands until he disappeared.
It was not long until the peach boy came to the end of the village. A dog was barking on the roadside."Bowwow!" "Peach boy, where are you going?" "I'm going to Onigashima to defeat monsters." said the peach boy. "In fact I had my food taken by those monsters, so I'm very hungry." said the dog. "Then I'll give you the best Kibi Dango in Japan that'll give you power." said the peach boy. "Thank you so much," said the dog and filled his mouth with the Kibi Dango with relish. After eating the Kibi Dango, the dog said, "I'll go with you to defeat monsters, in gratitude."	The peach boy and the dog left the village and went through the field to the mountain. This time a monkey was chattering up on the tree. "Hey you, where are you going?" "I'm going to Onigashima to defeat monsters," said the peach boy. "I'll go to Onigashima with you. The truth is we all were run out of that island by those monsters." said the monkey. "Thank you so much. In gratitude, I'll give you the best Kibi Dango in Japan that'll give you power," said the peach boy.	The peach boy, the dog and the monkey went up and down the mountain to the river. Next time a pheasant was flying around above the peach boy's head and singing, "Keeeen! Keeeen!" "Hey you. Where are all of you going?" "I'm going to Onigashima to defeat monsters," said the peach boy. "Then can I go with you? said the pheasant. "Sure," said the peach boy and the pheasant came flying down to the ground. "Let's form the 'Peach Boys'. Let's eat the best Kibi Dango in Japan and leave for Onigashima to defeat monsters." The peach boy shouted spiritedly The team "Peach Boys" passed along the river. After a while, they came to the beach.
There they found a man and woman. The couple were watching the sea lapping against the shore and they were weeping. "Why are you so said?" said the peach boy. "One daughter was kidnapped by monsters on Onigashima.", they said and  kept weeping. The peach boy gave the couple the Kibi Dango. "If you eat this, you'll feel better soon." "We're going to defeat bad monsters from now on. I'm sure to bring your daughter back." said the peach boy and encouraged the couple. The man said, "please use my boat if you like." and pointed at the boat on the shore. The team "Peach Boys" began to sail the boat toward the wild sea. The boat rolled and rolled because of the heavy seas. But they were never discouraged by such a thing, because they had eaten the best Kibi Dango in Japan that made them stronger. The boat moved faster and faster toward Onigashima. Soon the team "Peach Boys" reached Onigashima. There was a huge castle with a thick gate in Onigashima.	"Our team "Peach Boys" is number one in Japan. We'll defeat all of you." The peach boy shouted to them loudly. To hear that, the gatekeeper of the castle ran to the leader to tell him about it. Just then the pheasant watching from the sky, went behind the gate and unlocked the gate. At that time there was a great hustle and bustle around the island to drink and sing.  The monsters forced the couple's daughter that they had kidnapped to pour sake.	Then the team "Peach Boys" went through the gate easily and entered castle. The battle against the monsters started. The dog bit monsters. The monkey scratched them. The pheasant pecked them, and the   peach boy rained blows on the leader again and again.
The drunken monsters also counterattacked. But they couldn't be the equal of the team "Peach Boys" in strength, thanks to the best Kibi Dango in Japan. The team "Peach Boys" saved the daughter that had been kidnapped.	The leader of them finally gave in. "We're no match for you. We'll never do anything bad like this again. Please spare just our lives." The monsters returned many things they took away from people in the village, to the peach boy. Then the team "Peach Boys" left Onigashima on the boat with the daughter and many things.	They came back safely to the village where the old man and woman had waiting for the peach boy. After that, the peach boy lived happily with the old man and woman.
